Halil Ibrahim Dincdag, who was forced to quit his job as a referee due to his sexual orientation, criticized those who said that he was not promoted due to his incompetency as a soccer referee.

A referee from the Trabzon region, Dincdag told the AA on Wednesday that he had appealed to the Turkish Football Federation after the Central Referee Council (MHK) dismissed him from his position for being gay.

They should conduct a poll in Trabzon. If the number of people who say I am not a good referee comes out more than the number of people who say I am good, I will give up being a referee forever, Dincdag said.

I invite the whole Turkish and European media to the first game that I would be assigned as a referee. I invite the Turkish Football Federation and MHK to come and see how well I perform, Dincdag stressed. "My goal is not to have rating or make a show. The human rights of a person (Dincdag) have been violated. A person has been publicized in the media. This is a violation of human rights," Dincdag said. "My goal is FIFA. I can play as a referee in Europe," Dincdag also said.

Dincdag was forced to leave his job because he had been excused from his compulsory military service on account of his homosexuality, which was documented in medical report. According to the sport's regulations, anyone who fails to complete his military service for health reasons is unfit to perform as a referee.
