In her parliamentary speech, Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Istanbul Deputy Hüda Kaya opposed the investigation that started upon the official complaint of the Religious Affairs Administration against the Bar Association of Ankara, which defended the LGBTI+ rights.

HDP Deputy Hüda Kaya said in her speech that "if the Religious Affairs Administration can voice its opinion, the bar associations have the same right too" and pointed to the ruling party's hate speech towards LGBTI+'s.

"Read the Leader of AKP's remarks about LGBTI's"

Kaya said: "You can't depict yourself as the owner of all things holy by saying you are conservatives, guardian of the holiness of the family. Read the Leader of AKP's remarks about LGBTI's online. Moreover, Religious Affairs Administration is not an institution that represents me as a Muslim. It's not legitimate. It doesn't even have the legitimacy to let our children take the religion classes it provides. Religious Affairs Administration can't speak on our behalf.

If the Religious Affairs Administration can voice its opinion, the bar associations have the same right too. There's nothing monopolistic. You have no right to impose sectarian, Umayyadian thought on this society. If the Religious Affairs Administration wants to administer the religious affairs, it should prevent the theft and child rapes, defend the rights of boys who were raped in Koran courses."
