Istanbul Film Festival: Fault in the translation was not intentional but technical Kaos GL - News Portal for LGBTI+

“It happened because of the technical problems in the sound system which prevents to transfer sounds to the stage during the conversation.”

Istanbul Film Festival made a statement about not translating Sir Ian Mckellen’s “as an openly gay man” words into Turkish.

Festival’s statement follows:

“There is a misperception that Honorary Guest of the opening gala of the 36th Istanbul Film Festival Ian McKeller’s speech was being censored. We would like to clarify that this fault in the translation during the speech was not intentional; that is, it happened because of the technical problems in the sound system which prevents to transfer sounds to the stage during the conversation.”
