Justice for Referee Dinçdağ has been postponed to 2012

The third trial of the case which Halil İbrahim Dinçdağ, a referee who has been stripped of his job because of being gay, sued against the Turkish Football Federation for pecuniary and non-pecuniary damages was sat on 20 October 2011 in İstanbul 20^th Court of First Instance. The trial was adjourned to 7 February 2012 in order to continue to hear the witnesses and to examine the file that has been presented by the Turkish Football Federation.

Kaosgl.org received Dinçdağ’s opinions after the trial. Dinçdağ said ‘In our country all court cases drag on. All of our witnesses were heard except one. The Federation has also produced witnesses. The case was adjourned in order to hear them to 7th of February. We will wait and see. The present Managers of the Federation shall explain this by saying ‘We prolong the former management and we agree with them on this topic’ or ‘let’s handle this matter’, but this is not going to happen. My attorney says that the case is likely to result in two trials.’

 

In 2009 The Turkish Football Federation stripped gay referee Halil İbrahim Dinçdağ of his job unfairly and shared the information that he is gay with the press without his consent.

 

Halil İbrahim Dinçdağ who sued against the Federation for pecuniary and non-pecuniary damages for not being able to practice his profession from that date has the support of LGBT organizations.
