Esmeray, who is a well-known Kurdish trans stand-up artist and columnist on daily newspaper Taraf, performed her innovative and improvisational play “Yırtık Bohça” (Torn Bundle) within the scope of Symposium Against Discriminations.
The play, which was written by herself, held in Ankara on 10 December. More than 150 people came to watch the play at the venue Nefes.

Within the play, Esmeray shares her experiences and interpretations of her village, youth, migration to İstanbul and she opens a different window to Turkey’s near history. Having heard a queer story in a village of Kars, Esmeray tells us about her queer encounters on the journey to Tarlabaşı, İstanbul. She asks “how an uncle may be a “beautiful lady” at the same time”; how can a military officer, a taxi driver,  dishwasher, boss and the folks may meet in the same story”, “how the flowers given to Esmeray may be taken back from Mehmet (a male name)”?a
