Within the scope of the human rights training organized by Kaos GL Association together with Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, Social Workers talked about homophobia, transphobia and sexism.
 
The second work concerning the programs Kaos GL is executing in this period within the scope of human rights training is made on Saturday, 28th of April in Association of Social Workers in Istanbul. The training which took place in Istanbul after Ankara and Diyarbakır was actualized through the hosting of Social Workers. Psychologist Umut Şah from Istanbul made a presentation named “The Development of Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity”. He answered questions in the presentation, by mentioning the meanings of gender, gender identity and sexual orientation and the wrongs which are accepted as truths.
 
And Yasemin Şafak from Diyarbakır Directorate of National Education made a presentation named “LGBT Child and Support Works in Social Services”. She finished her presentation with the importance of the support which will be given to a child, what experts can do, with the deeds which will be made together with the family and how links may be established with other institutions while accomplishing these works. Tuğrul Erbaydar from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Public Health made a presentation named “Sexual Rights and Discrimination.” In his presentation he talked about the problems and discrimination experienced in health sphere as to this issue. Hacettepe University Department of Social Services Research Assistant Sedat Yağcıoğlu made a presentation named “LGBT Individuals and Social Service”. Yağcıoğlu in his presentation offered concrete suggestions about what can be done while mentioning the hardships experienced by LGBT individuals about the access of social service. Pınar Özer from Istanbul LISTAG Family Group shared the psychological-social process she experienced after she had learnt that her child is a trans. While talking about this process, she mentioned the problems she experienced in the spheres of education, social service and health, and the alternative solutions she had found. She said that the problems she experienced while finding solutions made her meet with the Lambdaistanbul group and that her child made her an activist.
 
The training which is organized by Kaos GL under the title of ‘Human Rights and LGBT Individuals’ was watched by Social Workers with great interest. In the conversation part of each speech participants shared their ideas about the solutions by talking about the problems they experienced in their sphere.
