Turkish Parliament will host a press conference this Friday for the International Day against Homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHO-T).

The International Day against Homophobia and Transphobia, or May 17, was chosen to commemorate the decision to remove homosexuality from the International Classification of Diseases of the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1990. May 17 has been celebrated in almost 120 countries, in all world regions since 2004.

The press conference will start on Friday at 10.30 am with participation of Turkish MPs. Two recent publications of United Nations and Council of Europe on lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) rights will also be introduced at the conference.

“Born Free and Equal” of United Nations and “Combating Discrimination on Grounds of Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity – Council of Europe standars” of Council of Europe were published by Kaos GL Association in Turkish.

Both publications contain important and “binding” information for Turkish politicians, public authorities and public opinion.
